The Approach

A design craftsman.

Yuichi Toyama learned his craft from the inside, working over a decade alongside Japan's most skilled eyewear artisans before ever designing a frame of his own. He learned how materials behave, how craftsmen think, and what it takes to make something that lasts. When he finally launched his own label, he brought all of that with him.

He calls this approach 'design craftsmanship.' Designing and crafting as one continuous process, each informing the other. The creation of every frame follows five principles: Look. Think. Draw. Make. Break. Then start again.

Today, Toyama works directly with five masters in Sabae, the heart of Japanese eyewear production. Together they combine titanium and acetate in ways that push the boundaries of what's possible. His designs draw inspiration from everyday objects, finding elegance in simplicity. The result: frames that feel as considered as they look.

Titanium Collection

Hypoallergenic titanium, shaped with a precision unique to Sabae. The collection's signature is the Double Dutch technique — born in 2016, when Yuichi watched a jump rope game and saw two ropes forming geometric shapes in the air. He recognised a design principle: instead of separate rim and bridge, two flowing lines become one frame. Like a single brushstroke. Delicate, with a stability that lasts for years.

Takiron Acetate Collection

Japanese bio-acetate derived from natural cotton and wood cellulose, produced by a single family-owned factory — Takiron — in a process that takes years. Hundreds of hand-polishing steps until the material reveals its true depth. What sets Yuichi apart is what he does with it: titanium rings embedded within acetate frames, titanium nose pads integrated into the front. Two materials, one seamless construction. The result: depth built over years, a fit that feels right from the first moment.
